Miettinen Dies After Multi-Car Nürburgring Crash

Juha Miettinen has tragically died following a seven-car crash during the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) qualifying race in Germany.

The incident occurred on Saturday at the iconic Nurburgring Nordschleife, prompting officials to immediately halt the race with a red flag before later suspending the event entirely.

Race Halted After Major Collision

Organisers confirmed that the race was stopped to allow emergency crews to respond to a serious multi-vehicle accident.

Despite rapid intervention:

  • Miettinen was extracted from his car
  • Emergency medical teams attempted resuscitation
  • He was later pronounced dead at the medical centre

A statement from race officials read:

“Despite the immediate arrival of emergency services, the driver could not be saved.”

Other Drivers Escape Serious Injury

Six other drivers involved in the crash were taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Fortunately, none suffered life-threatening injuries, according to organisers.

The race will not resume, with safety and investigation procedures taking priority.

Verstappen Leads Tributes

The event had drawn additional attention due to the participation of Max Verstappen, who is preparing for the upcoming 24-hour endurance race at the circuit.

The four-time Formula 1 world champion shared his condolences:

“Motorsport is something we all love, but moments like this remind us how dangerous it can be.”

Tribute Planned

A minute’s silence will be observed before Sunday’s race in memory of Miettinen, as the motorsport community mourns a tragic loss.
